The Golden Days……… 

This Teacher Day reminded my Old school days. I saw the excitement of my 3 years old nephew who started going to school few months ago. Even we were full of enthusiasm on such occasion. The activities we used to do 2-3 days before -Preparing Cards using all the creativity sense one can have, selecting gifts, small bunch of flowers. Although plucking flowers for teachers from others garden was the regular activity, I tell you it was fun ;) .

It was normal feeling of every school going kids that “oohh Nooo not again ,tomorrow is school “ !!! Hate rising early, it was better if we were of our Papa’s age going to office at 10am. Later on in life realized that being kid has more benefits.

I remember my Geography Teacher Mrs.  Iyer a south Indian was very cool nature lady, loosely tied Hair with red rose bud tucked in her hair band. We all used to cheers when she enters into the class with long Good afternoon .Last I heard she went back to her home in Chennai.

My literature Teacher Miss Jyotika was very beautiful short height .She had long straight hair always spread on her shoulders. She died early due to illness after marriage. Really missed them .My all others subject teachers have really indeed played a very important role in shaping what I am today.

No Tension, No worries Nothing …. It was carefree days J .Fun Periods were PT, Drawing, Singing, and of course the friends. The concept of Best Friend was like life cannot be without friends. Silly fights on School bus for window seat  J . Participating in Dance for Annual day functions are some of the memorable moments. I do not know whether nowadays school children play these Games or not which we used to play Kabaddi, Kho Kho, Hide & Seek poshampa bhai poshampa, Denga Pani, Chore Sipahi, What color What Color you have?

Reading books & Comics was also a habit in those days. Amar Chitra Katha, Chacha Choudhary, Nandan, The Adventures of TinTin, Phantom & Khilona (In Urdu) . I love the craft class. Learning to play with needle and thread & making different stiches was fun, till today this is my favorite pass time. Today’s Kids are more into playing Video Games, watching Cartoons. Really Childhood is the Golden era of Life.

  3. Truly. The memoirs of yours of your hey days in school retreating me to mine. Although these were not as fascinating as yours as I was in village school. But those too thrilling me as does yours to you. Teachers and friends in school made us what we are today.
